ST. THOMAS — A man was killed by gunfire here in the Bovoni Housing Community late Friday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte made known via press release Saturday.<\/p>\n
According to Mr. Dratte, the 911 emergency call center received notification from several residents that shots had been fired in the Bovoni area. Residents also notified the call center of a vehicle that had crashed into bushes near building D of the housing community.<\/p>\n
Moments later, a resident notified 911 that a vehicle was en route to the Schneider Regional Medical Center with a gunshot victim aboard, Mr. Dratte said.<\/p>\n
The victim, who succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, was identified as 23-year-old Mario Huggins of the Bovoni Housing community. He sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper body, according to police.<\/p>\n
