CROIX &#8212; A 23-year-old man was arrested on Friday on forgery and unauthorized firearm charges, after allegedly knowingly circulating counterfeit checks that were created with accurate account information of local businesses, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The force&#8217;s Economic Crime Unit (ECU) initiated an investigation on February 3, and on March 10 at approximately 3:09 p.m., Special Operations officers joined ECU in executing a search and arrest warrant for the suspect, named Jahmar Frederick (seen above left).<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Frederick was arrested on multiple charges, including obtaining money by false pretense, passing forged bills or notes, grand larceny, identity theft, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and unauthorized possession of ammunition, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Unable to make bail of $75,000, the suspect was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advise-of-right hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The V.I.P.D. is\u00a0asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of those involved in criminal activity to call (340) 778-2211 on St Croix, (340) 774-2211 on St Thomas,\u00a0or\u00a0Crime Stoppers USVI, <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.p3tips.com\/TipForm.aspx?ID=737&amp;DSID=737\" target=\"_blank\">where you tip may lead to a substantial payout<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
