ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (W.M.A.) is advising St. Croix residents of a break in the Lagoon Street Pump Station\u2019s force main. The break occurred in the vicinity of the St. Patrick School.<\/p>\n
Repairs to the force main have already begun, Waste Management said. The authority anticipates the repairs will be completed by Sunday.\u00a0Traffic will not be impacted and berms have been placed in the area to prevent any environmental impacts.<\/p>\n
Residents with impacted immune systems or respiratory conditions are asked to avoid the area until repairs are complete.<\/p>\n
Residents and businesses are also asked to refrain from pouring liquid grease and various personal products down the drain. These items can and do impact operations at the authority\u2019s pump stations and wastewater treatment facilities.<\/p>\n
