ST. THOMAS — Governor Kenneth Mapp is once again calling on residents and visitors on this island to support the Children’s Parade, which takes place on Friday.<\/p>\n
Last year, the territory’s leader said\u00a0he was pleased to see a strong turnout \u2014 at least in the Carnival Square where all main performances traditionally take place \u2014 for the Children\u2019s Parade, which has struggled with attendance in recent years.<\/p>\n
This year, Mr. Mapp said he\u00a0was especially delighted that Lt. Governor Osbert Potter succeeded in getting horse owners and the Virgin Islands Carnival Committee to schedule the races on Thursday of Carnival week, to eliminate a longstanding conflict with the Children\u2019s Parade.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI look forward to Friday being dedicated to the Children\u2019s Parade,” he said, adding that, \u201cLt. Governor Potter has put a great deal of effort into highlighting the Children\u2019s Parade, which is my favorite event.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Village activities will continue into Saturday.
