ST. THOMAS — Award-winning author and media entrepreneur Peter Bailey, an alumna of Ivanna Eudora Kean is returning to tape his popular NiteCap conversations series with local boxer and celebrity chef Julius Jackson, inside the auditorium at Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School on May 12, 2017.<\/p>\n
Mr. Bailey has invited juniors and seniors from CAHS and Ivanna Eudora Kean high schools as well students from Bertha and the private schools to be a part of the audience and partake in the introspective discussion about achieving and maintaining success. The taping is being done in partnership with the USVI departments of Tourism and Education as well the Virgin Islands Lottery. Several local artists are also slated to perform.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we celebrate our centennial in the territory I wanted local youth to be exposed to homegrown wisdom from our own luminaries,\u201d says Mr. Bailey, whose previous shows on St. Thomas and St. Croix featured actress Bresha Webb and hip hop star Stalley.<\/p>\n
Mr. Bailey, a nationally-recognized Miami-based author and journalist, believes it\u2019s essential to expose students to what he calls the \u201cknowledge of success\u201d. NiteCap has been credited by mega-star Rick Ross as “pushing the culture forward”. The very popular show with the who’s who in entertainment is filmed at different locations throughout the United States. Ms. Webb was the latest guest to be featured that has included the likes of billionaire Don Peebles, Mike Tyson, Fantasia, 50 Cent, Ice T, Janelle Monae, Chad Johnson and Mike Epps.<\/p>\n
The show is routinely featured on Vibe, BET, MTV and Huffington Post to name a few. Most recently the prestigious Knight Foundation have partnered with Mr. Bailey to showcase the stories of America\u2019s most promising entrepreneurs and innovators of color. Before launching NiteCap, Mr. Bailey wrote for Time, Newsweek and Miami Herald. His book on the life of hip hop star Trick Daddy was praised as \u201cone of the pop music gems of 2010\u201d by the New York Times. Mr. Bailey hopes bringing the show home to St. Thomas will provide inspiration for youth and serve as positive media exposure for the territory.<\/p>\n
