CROIX &#8212; The Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center has announced that as of Friday at 4:30 p.m., the code yellow alert it initiated on Monday evening after learning that parts of the hospital&#8217;s drainage system was compromised, has been lifted.<\/p>\n<p>Hospital officials said the facility continued to maintain full operations\u00a0all week as a result of the temporary bypass measures initiated by local contractors, and also continued to maintain a safe environment of care for its patients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">To permanently address the problem\u00a0and line replacements, Governor Kenneth Mapp <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/featured\/mapp-calls-senate-into-special-session-to-consider-7-proposals-among-them-funds-for-jfl-drainage-issues-and-paul-e-joseph-stadium-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this week requested an appropriation of $3 million.<\/a><\/span> The funds would require reprogramming certain Gross Receipts Tax Bonds and Matching Fund Bonds, along with funds from the Community Facilities Trust Account, according to Government House.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The hospital <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/featured\/jfl-limits-emergency-room-visits-grants-administrative-leave-following-drainage-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">revealed on Monday<\/a><\/span> that some of the sewage drain lines on the first floor were compromised, and JFL\u2019s administration was notified about the drainage system issue shortly after 12:00 p.m. Monday. A release issued on Monday added that the executive team worked aggressively to resolve the issue, and when it was determined that additional resources were necessary, hospital officials initiated a code yellow at 5:50 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST.
