ST. CROIX — A car accident on the Queen Mary Highway (Centerline Road) near Anna’s Hope left a young man injured but alive, according to emergency personnel on the scene.<\/p>\n
The accident occurred after the noon hour, with St. Croix Rescue receiving notification from the 911 emergency call center at about 12:45 p.m.<\/p>\n
The vehicle was traveling east and may have been speeding, according to St. Croix Rescue’s Liz Goggins, citing the amount of damage to the car — a red Honda (above) Civic which was totaled after slamming into a tree, with its front end almost unrecognizable.<\/p>\n
When St. Croix Rescue arrived on the scene, the driver was found on the passenger’s side of the vehicle, Ms. Goggins said. She said St. Croix Rescue personnel had to remove the door to make room for EMS personnel, who came in with a backboard and a cervical collar.<\/p>\n
The victim appeared to be part of J.R.O.T.C., as he was wearing the organization’s uniform, according to emergency personnel on the scene.<\/p>\n
He was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment, where he is expected to make a full recovery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
