ST. JOHN — Virgin Islands Fire Service personnel responded to two structural fires during the nighttime of Wednesday and Thursday on the island of St. John.<\/p>\n
VIFS personnel from the Romeo Company Fire Station on Wednesday responded to a structural fire\u00a0at 10-7 Carolina, Coral Bay Quarters at 7:23 p.m. Upon arrival to the scene, fire personnel found the second floor of a two-story dwelling fully engulfed in flames, according to a release issued Friday. Firefighters on the scene commenced fire suppression operations, and additional units from the Zulu Company were ordered to the scene.<\/p>\n
Within ten minutes the fire was extinguished and fire personnel conducted salvage and overhaul operations of the scene, according to the release. Both floors of the structure sustained significant smoke and water damage.<\/p>\n
On Thursday at 7:55 pm, Fire Service personnel responded to a structural fire at 4-Enighed, Cruz Bay. Units from both Zulu and Romeo Companies responded to the scene.<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, fire personnel found a wooden structure containing two residences and two businesses fully engulfed in flames. Both on-duty and off-duty fire service personnel battled the blaze for over an hour until the fire was completely extinguished. Salvage and overhaul operations of the scene was later conducted upon the arrival of the fire marshall, according to the release.<\/p>\n
The entire structure sustained extensive fire damage and was completely destroyed. Both fires are presently under investigation by the St. Thomas\/ St. John Arson Prevention and Investigation Unit, the release concluded.<\/p>\n
