WTJX on Wednesday announced what it described as a new half-hour “public affairs series” dubbed “The Washington Report with Stacey Plaskett”, a show the territory’s Public Broadcasting System said will air bi-monthly.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of our ongoing mission to keep viewers informed and educated, we are pleased to present this new series in conjunction with Congresswoman Plaskett,\u201d said WTJX CEO, Tanya-Marie Singh. \u201cThe show will run until the official election cycle begins, and if the congresswoman is re-elected, we hope to see a second season when the election is over.”<\/p>\n

\u201cJudging from the first show that I previewed, this program will be of great interest to the territory\u2019s residents,” Mrs. Singh added.<\/p>\n

Ms. Plaskett said the show was created\u00a0to educate and inform her congressional district on current issues that directly affect the Virgin Islands community. Guests will range from political leaders to community activists. This week\u2019s first guest will be Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon, Ms. Plaskett said.<\/p>\n

As for its content, the show\u00a0will feature “in-depth examinations of facts behind political and general news stories that affect the Virgin Islands as well as feature reports centering on socioeconomic issues affecting the people of the Virgin Islands. The show will also feature general news stories of note that occurred the previous week,” Ms. Plaskett said.<\/p>\n

Virgin Islands residents will be able to email questions for upcoming shows to Ms. Plaskett at\u00a0AskStacey@mail.house.gov<\/a>. The first show airs tonight at 8:30 p.m.\u00a0on Channel 12\/90 and re-airs on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and
