The Department of Planning and Natural Resources on Friday said only 1 of the 37 beaches it tested between\u00a0August 28 – September 1, proved to be not safe for swimming and fishing this weekend, because it did not meet the water quality standard deemed safe.<\/p>\n
The unsafe beach is Grapetree Bay in St. Croix.<\/p>\n
All other waters were good to go:\u00a0On St. Croix, they are:\u00a0Pelican Cove (Cormorant), Rainbow, Chenay Bay, Cane Bay, Stoney Ground, Frederiksted Public Beach, Dorsch Beach, Shoy\u2019s, Halfpenny, Spratt Hall, Protestant Cay, Princess, Condo Row, Cramer\u2019s Park, Columbus Landing, New Fort (Ft. Louise Augusta) and Buccaneer.<\/p>\n
Safe Beaches on St. Thomas are: Bolongo Bay, Lindquist, Magen\u2019s Bay, Vessup Bay, Water Bay, Bluebeards, Frenchman\u2019s Bay, Coki Point, Sapphire, Lindbergh Bay, Hull Bay, Morningstar, Limetree, Brewer\u2019s Bay and Secret Harbor.<\/p>\n
And on St. John, D.P.N.R. identified the safe beaches as:\u00a0Cruz Bay, Oppenheimer, Great Cruz Bay, Frank Bay and Johnson Bay.<\/p>\n
D.P.N.R. says it\u00a0will continue to monitor these popular swimming areas. The department also recommends that beachgoers use their discretion when swimming or fishing at the designated beaches.<\/p>\n
