{"id":56446,"date":"2017-09-05T18:07:46","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T18:07:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/?p=56446"},"modified":"2017-09-05T18:07:46","modified_gmt":"2017-09-05T18:07:46","slug":"heres-the-latest-update-on-the-territorys-seaports-and-airports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/?p=56446","title":{"rendered":"Here&#8217;s The Latest Update On The Territory&#8217;s Seaports And Airports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Virgin Islands Port Authority Acting Executive Director Damian Cartwright on Tuesday afternoon provided the following updates regarding the Port Authority&#8217;s seaports and airports, as the U.S. Virgin Islands readies for Hurricane Irma:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><b class=\"\"><span class=\"\">SEAPORTS:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">During a storm, the US Coast Guard (USCG) determines the condition of the USVI\u2019s seaports, and is the only agency with the authority to close and re-open the seaports.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"\"><b class=\"\"><span class=\"\">As of today, September 5, 2017 at 8 a.m. all USVI seaports\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b class=\"\"><span class=\"\">are closed to all inbound commercial traffic unless authorized by the US Coast Guard\u2019s Captain of the Por<\/span><\/b><b class=\"\"><span class=\"\">t<\/span><\/b><span class=\"\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><u class=\"\"><span class=\"\">FERRY SERVICE<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">There is no ferry service to the British Virgin Islands or St. Croix.\u00a0 There is also no ferry service to St. John from the Charlotte Amalie Waterfront on St. Thomas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">The last ferry from Cruz Bay, St. John to Red Hook, St. Thomas departs at 6 pm today.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">The last ferry from Red Hook to St. John departs at 7 pm.\u00a0 There will be no ferry service between St. Thomas and St. John until further notice.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><u class=\"\"><span class=\"\">BARGE SERVICE<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">The last barge leaving St. John to Red Hook, St. Thomas will depart at 4:30 p.m. today.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">The last barge leaving Red Hook to St. John departs at 5:30 pm. today.\u00a0 There will be no barge service between St. Thomas and St. John until further notice.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><b class=\"\"><span class=\"\">AIRPORTS:<\/span><\/b><span class=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><u class=\"\"><span class=\"\">AIRPORT TERMINALS<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Both the Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas and the Henry E.
