ST. THOMAS — In two separate incidents, a man was stabbed to death in St. Thomas, while a woman is said to have committed suicide, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Saturday.<\/p>\n

Relative to the stabbing incident, according to Mr. Dratte,\u00a0at about 1:14 p.m. on Saturday, the 911 emergency call center received a call from a citizen in regards to a stabbing on the horse track.<\/p>\n

Upon the arrival of officers to the Clinton Phipps Race Track in Nadir, an unresponsive male was found lying on his back covered in blood near the facility’s concession. The victim, identified as Goshell Walters, called “Foma”, sustained a puncture wound to the lower right abdomen and trauma to the head. The victim died as a result of injuries sustained from the assault, Mr. Dratte said.<\/p>\n

Police were able to arrest a suspect, identified as 47-year-old Dane McIntosh,<\/span><\/a> who was apprehended within two and a half hours following the initial call to 911, Mr. Dratte said. The suspect was still within the vicinity of the horse track when he was apprehended.<\/p>\n

Mr. McIntosh admitted to investigators that he had indeed stabbed Mr. Walters. He was charged with first-degree murder and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing, after failing to make bail of $150,000.<\/p>\n

Also in St. Thomas, a Caucasian woman on Friday was found dead at her home in Mandahl with a gunshot would to her head, in what appeared to be a self-inflicted wound, according to Mr. Dratte. She was found just after 10:00 p.m., and the incident was reported by her husband, Mr. Dratte told The Consortium.<\/p>\n

The victim was identified as Dana Lynn Dewitt, 47. Police say the case is being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
