CROIX &#8212; The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is looking to hire dozens of U.S. Virgin Islanders as temporary employees to help with the territory\u2019s recovery from hurricanes Irma and Maria. Positions will be available on St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">FEMA is seeking a variety of skilled workers, including administrative assistants, communications specialists, couriers, facilities workers and workers in other specialties. Temporary local hires may be employed for 120-day terms, which may be extended up to one year maximum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Virgin Island workers will bring critical knowledge and skills to the ongoing recovery and restoration efforts in their communities. Hiring locally allows disaster survivors to get back to work while supporting the long-term recovery effort and helping the territory return to normal. Those hired will be part of a workforce which is composed of territorial, local and federal workers, voluntary agencies and community organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Residents interested in working for FEMA may email their resume to\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/dhusband\/AppData\/Local\/Microsoft\/Windows\/Temporary%20Internet%20Files\/Content.Outlook\/WURAOQX7\/fema-workforce-caribbean@fema.dhs.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u class=\"\">fema-workforce-caribbean@fema.dhs.gov<\/u><\/a>\u00a0or they may drop off resumes in-person at these locations:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">St. Thomas: Department of Labor, 2353 Kronprindsens Gade, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">St. Croix: Department of Labor, 4401 Sion Farm Christiansted, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">St. John: Virgin Islands Legislature, St. John Annex, 1D Cruz Bay, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Residents who have already been dropping off resumes at the Department of Labor locations can continue to do so during operating hours.<strong class=\"\">\u00a0All locations will be closed on Sunday, October 22.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\"><strong class=\"\">Assistance with Applications<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">FEMA Human Relations personnel will be available on all three islands to collect resumes and assist those who need help in filling out applications. Human Relations personnel will be at:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">St. Croix Department of Labor on Saturday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, October 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">St. Thomas Department of Labor on Monday, October 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"\"><span class=\"\">St. John Virgin Islands Legislature on Tuesday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Each DOL location will have paper applications available for candidates to complete. Applicants can come in and fill out an application if they\u2019re unable to print or can drop off their resume. No additional documentation or paper will be required for the drop-off.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\"><strong class=\"\">Contacting Applicants and Interview Schedule<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">FEMA Human Relations personnel are beginning to contact applicants by phone and email to schedule interviews, and they will continue to do so from\u00a0<strong class=\"\">7 a.m. to 7 p.m<\/strong>. today through Monday, October 23. They will make repeated attempts to reach applicants but will not leave a voicemail or send texts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Attempts to schedule interviews will continue until 12 p.m. the day before the designated island\u2019s interview day.
