ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Department of Education, Division of Cultural Education (DVICE) is launching its second annual Storytelling Academy in January 2018.<\/p>\n

The academy teaches the art of cultural storytelling in Virgin Islands local oral tradition and will be facilitated by master storyteller Yohance Henley. The program is free and will be held once a month in both school districts until May 2018.<\/p>\n

The first session in the St. Thomas \u2013 St. John District will be held on January 13 at the Jarvis Annex and in the St. Croix District on January 20 at the Cultural Education Center. Times will be announced.<\/p>\n

The program will also teach participants the history of cultural folkloric stories and increase their public speaking skills with opportunities to become a culture bearer.<\/p>\n
