The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) said Friday that community service groups should submit proposals for projects that will benefit the community in the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria. Local Rotary, Lions, and Inner Wheel clubs are eligible to apply for grants of up to $10,000 to carry out community-serving projects that will address challenges of post-hurricane life.<\/p>\n
Project grants will be awarded from the Fund for the Virgin Islands (FFVI), which was established by CFVI immediately following Hurricane Irma, CFVI said. The purpose of the FFVI is to provide monies for critical post-hurricane needs in the U.S. Virgin Islands, both to support short-term relief efforts and to enhance the well-being of future generations. Strategic planning for these efforts is being coordinated by CFVI with input from policy\/program experts, the Office of the Governor, and trusted local nonprofits. Funding has been provided through the generosity of donors across the territory, the nation, and around the world, CFVI said.<\/p>\n
