ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department has issued a release identifying the young man who succumbed to gunshot wounds after being shot multiple times at the Festival Village on Saturday night<\/span><\/a>, over a gambling game called “Hi-Lo”, according to V.I.P.D. Commissioner Delroy Richards.<\/p>\n

According to the release, issued by V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte, the victim has been identified as 31-year-old Curtis Phipps, also known as “QT”.<\/p>\n

Mr. Phipps and the suspect, who police have revealed as 21-year-old Angel Parrilla, Jr., (seen above) got into an altercation over the gambling game Hi-Lo, which led to the discharging of shots that killed Mr. Phipps. Emergency medical technicians had managed to revive the victim, but he later succumbed to his injuries at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.<\/p>\n

Mr. Parrilla, who was apprehended at his residence at the Walter I.M. Hodge Housing Community in Frederiksted, was charged with first-degree murder and was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing, after failing to make bail of $500,000, according to Mr. Dratte.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
