{"id":61907,"date":"2018-03-29T21:15:56","date_gmt":"2018-03-29T21:15:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/?p=61907"},"modified":"2018-03-29T21:15:56","modified_gmt":"2018-03-29T21:15:56","slug":"deadline-extended-for-emergency-prescription-assistance-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/?p=61907","title":{"rendered":"Deadline Extended For Emergency Prescription Assistance Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">The federal program that provides emergency prescription assistance for uninsured disaster survivors has been extended through May 15 at the territory\u2019s request, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Virgin Islanders who have no prescription insurance coverage and lost medicine or medical supplies due to hurricanes Irma and Maria may be eligible for a free 30-day replacement of certain drugs and medical supplies<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">To be eligible, the survivor must have a current prescription. Survivors who have Medicare, Medicaid, or, if the prescription is for a child, the Children\u2019s Health Insurance Program and those with private insurance, such as through an employer, are not eligible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\">Many pharmacies in the USVI are participating in the Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP). Check with your pharmacy to see if it is part of the program.
