{"id":62625,"date":"2018-04-20T13:31:00","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T13:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/?p=62625"},"modified":"2018-04-20T13:31:00","modified_gmt":"2018-04-20T13:31:00","slug":"air-marine-operations-coast-guard-stop-vessel-with-1084-pounds-of-cocaine-and-19-pounds-of-heroin-in-route-to-southern-puerto-rico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/?p=62625","title":{"rendered":"Air &#038; Marine Operations, Coast Guard Stop Vessel With 1084 Pounds Of Cocaine And 19 Pounds Of Heroin In Route To Southern Puerto Rico"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\" lang=\"EN\">U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)\u00a0<span class=\"\"><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/border-security\/air-sea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Air and Marine Operations (AMO)<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and the U.S. Coast Guard collaborated to intercept on Saturday a go-fast vessel seizing 1,084 pounds (491.5kilos) of cocaine and 19 pounds (9 kilos) of heroin<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<span class=\"\" lang=\"EN\">\u00a0The estimated value of the seized cocaine is $ 12.8 million and $540,000 for the heroin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><span class=\"\" lang=\"EN\">\u201cAMO crews spend many hours patrolling the Caribbean region to discover smuggling ventures into US territory,\u201d said Johnny Morales, director of Air Operations. \u201cWe remain committed to work with other law enforcement partners to detect and deter these intrusions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">On Apr. 14, AMO\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/border-security\/air-sea\/aircraft-and-marine-vessels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DHC- 8 Marine Patrol Aircraft\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0crew observed a suspect vessel described as 25 feet in length, center console, twin engines with two occupants about 110 nautical miles south of Puerto Rico. The crew observed the suspect vessel receive fuel from another vessel in the vicinity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Near 9:00 a.m., the vessel made contact with a different vessel and transferred several packages that appeared to be contraband.
