ST. CROIX — The body of a man who went missing on April 26 was recovered underneath a barge at the Green Cay Marina on the East End on Sunday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.<\/p>\n
The man, identified as Jason Parr, was last seen alive at the Deep End Bar at about 10:30 p.m on Thursday, according to Mr. Dratte.<\/p>\n
On Friday at approximately 8:00 a.m., the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal\u00a0 Investigation Bureau (C.I.B.) conducted a thorough search of the Green Cay Marina for Mr. Parr. During the search,\u00a0officers observed signs of decomposition, including an odor emanating from the area of a moored barge.<\/p>\n
According to Mr. Dratte, a\u00a0diver subsequently went into the water and observed a body floating underneath the barge with clothing matching those Mr. Parr was reported to be wearing when he went missing. He was later positively identified by next of kin.<\/p>\n
The V.I.P.D. was awaiting the results of an autopsy before it could determine the cause of death, according to Mr. Dratte.<\/p>\n
