ST. CROIX — In a release issued Friday, the Department of Health said that the Charles Harwood Complex, which has housed most of the department’s arms, has been closed since June 5, and will remain closed “until further notice.” The Department cited “safety concerns” without giving an idea of the issues plaguing the facility, which is located in Richmond.<\/p>\n
“The safety of our staff and clients is our number one priority and the closure of our facility is the best option for all involved,” D.O.H. said in its release. “All on-site services have been suspended and all staff has been instructed to vacate the premises. The Maternal Child Health Clinic has been authorized to operate outside of the building inside the emergency tent and mobile van until Friday, June 15.”<\/p>\n
It was not clear where other employees that were operating in the building would work from, as the department did not say in its release.<\/p>\n
D.O.H. said Maternal Child Health patients with existing appointments between today and next Friday do not need to make any changes. Currently, all clinics that are operating outside of the complex will continue services without interruption, the department said.<\/p>\n
