Candidate of Senate Allison DeGazon and incumbent Senator Novelle Francis will join Ernice Gilbert and Ashley Scotland beginning at 7:00 p.m. tonight for live interviews on The Consortium’s new show called The Virgin Islands Political Consortium (V.I.P.C.).<\/p>\n
The show was started by Mr. Gilbert early 2014 when he was a co-owner of then-radio station 102.1 F.M., Life Radio. (It\u2019s now 101.3 F.M., Life Radio.) It hosted all the gubernatorial candidates during the 2014 election year, as well as many of those who sought the senatorial office. It became popular for the tough questions posed by Mr. Gilbert, Mr. Scotland and Brenda Bertrand, known as \u201cMaggie\u201d on the show.<\/p>\n
The inaugural broadcast show was held on Saturday and featured Senate candidates Daren Stevens and Javan James. The Consortium decided it needed to add shows during the week as there are many candidates to be interviewed with little time before November 6.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re expecting to keep the spirit of the show intact,\u201d Mr. Gilbert has said. \u201cI\u2019m pretty excited about being able to keep our community informed on the candidates seeking office, especially during this critical juncture in the territory\u2019s history. Hopefully voters\u2019 decisions on election day will be based on relevant information and not emotion or other unimportant factors.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope to give an opportunity for our audience to connect with those aspiring for office, and to bring our electoral vetting process to a new medium that is easily accessible and educational for our demographic,\u201d Mr. Scotland said. \u201cIt is the hope that through this process more millennials will become intrigued about the process and therefore lead to more engagement at the ballot box.\u201d<\/p>\n
The show will run from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on The Consortium\u2019s Facebook page and its YouTube channel. An embed code of the show will also be placed on the website for those who don\u2019t fancy social media.<\/p>\n
