ST. THOMAS — Police arrested a man on Tuesday afternoon after he led officers on a high speed chase through traffic that extended from Alton Adams Drive to Raphune Hill, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Dratte said the incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. Officers were in the area of Alton Adams Drive when they observed a male who was later identified as Darren Hodge, seen above, operating a heavily tinted vehicle driving at a high rate of speed in a school district (Charlotte Amalie High School).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the driver refused to bring his vehicle to a halt. Mr. Hodge, 33, was alerted with blue lights and siren, but he continued at a higher rate of speed in an effort to evade police, Mr. Dratte said. Mr. Hodge overtook several cars, driving erratically and traveled east on Raphune Hill, where he finally stopped when another group of officers managed to create a road block near the top of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Hodge was then given several orders by police to exit his vehicle, however he refused to comply, according to Mr. Dratte. He was then placed under arrest and charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and battery, along with several other traffic violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unable to make bail of $50,000, Mr. Hodge was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
