ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department on Friday said it arrested a man who was caught on camera multiple times leaving the Home Depot Store on St. Croix with unpaid items. The arrest occurred on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte, on Monday at about 12:45 p.m., detectives with the V.I.P.D.’s Economic Crime Unit initiated an investigation of embezzlement at the store. The investigation revealed that Clyde James Jr., seen above, was observed on surveillance cameras on two separate occasions leaving the Home Depot Store with unpaid items that were voided by another cashier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At about 2:45 p.m. Monday, Mr. James was placed under arrest and charged with embezzlement by clerks, agents and employees, and with petit larceny, Mr. Dratte said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing, after failing to make bail of $10,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
