Soon inmates serving time in the territory’s prisons will participate in what Gov’t House and the Bureau of Corrections have named the Inmate Work Program, an initiative birthed to assist in the cleanup of towns and roadsides and other beautification initiatives throughout the territory.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program is a joint effort between Gov’t House, the Bureau of Corrections and the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, a release Gov’t House issued Friday has made known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis initiative is just one of the many our administration will undertake to beautify our islands and improve the quality of life for Virgin Islanders,\u201d Governor Albert Bryan said. \u201cWe are all stakeholders in the efforts to improve our community, and I trust that extending this opportunity to our inmates will give to them just as much as they will to our community. I thank Administrator Sanes and BOC Director Nominee Wynnie Testamark for leading the initiative, as well as the Virgin Islands Waste Management Agency.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
St. Croix Administrator Sammuel Sanes echoed Mr. Bryan\u2019s sentiments Friday by describing the program as \u201ca hands-on initiative that offers inmates the opportunity to give back to their community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
