The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority told The Consortium on Monday that it was aware of low water pressure problems facing residents in the David Hamilton Jackson (also called Red Brick) and Water Gut communities. The authority also committed to fixing the issues, caused by broken pipes, before the Easter holiday weekend, according to Jean Greaux, WAPA director of corporate communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A planning meeting on how to best rectify the problem was scheduled for today. Part of the challenge on what Mr. Greaux said will be a 4 or possibly 6-hour job, is maintaining water pressure throughout the island while work is being performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Consortium was reached by a concerned resident of the Richmond area, who said that in some instances there was no pressure at all, leaving some customers without water. The resident also spoke of possible contamination of water from sewage, which could flow into the broken pipes during rainy days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WAPA said it was not aware of any such occurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
