If you’re camping at Cramer Park on the east end of St. Croix for the Easter weekend, you won’t be too isolated from the world if you choose not to be. That’s because the Virgin Islands Next Generation Network and the Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation (D.S.P.R.) have teamed up to provide free Internet access at Cramer Park, which normally has almost zero internet access or phone service for some carriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The partnership with viNGN will provide internet connectivity at Cramer Park for campers to utilize during the Easter holiday season and will remain active through Wednesday, May 1, Government House said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governor Albert Bryan said Tuesday the initiative is a creative step forward as it takes safety precautions against limited communications in the area and thanked D.S.P.R. Nominee White and viNGN for their contributions towards enriching the visitor experience at Cramer\u2019s Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThese are the creative and common-sense initiatives that are simple ways we can make our community safe and improve the quality of life for Virgin Islanders,” the governor said. “The availability of WiFi at Cramer\u2019s Park is more than just a means of convenience for residents, but a way to address a real public safety concern by providing access to wireless communication in an area affected by very limited cellular service. I thank Commissioner Nominee White and viNGN for their efforts to provide an improved visitor experience to St. Croix residents visiting the park.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. White also celebrated the partnership at Cramer\u2019s Park and announced his intentions to extend the collaboration with viNGN to provide internet access to all SPR facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis new resource will enhance the visiting experience of the community at Cramer\u2019s Park by providing an infrastructure for Web surfing, social and educational activities, and WiFi Calling,\u201d he said. \u201cAs we continue to make improvements, I hope that all SPR facilities will soon be able to provide internet access to our patrons as they engage in their recreation activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
viNGN has 15 free public WiFi hot spots throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
