ST. CROIX — A man was gunned down in Mount Pleasant West on Thursday night, bringing the territory’s homicide count to 13 for this year, with 6 in St. Thomas and 7 in St. Croix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to V.I.P.D. Pubic Information Officer Glen Dratte, at about 9:27 p.m. last night, a concerned resident reported to 911 that gunshots had been fired in the Mount Pleasant West housing community, which is located across from Plaza Extra West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon the officers’ arrival to the location, they met a black male lying unresponsive on the ground. Emergency medical technicians on the scene examined the victim but found no vital signs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victim was identified by next of kin as 25-year-old Raheem Springer.<\/p>\n\n\n

Mr. Dratte said the incident is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
