THOMAS &#8212; An accident in the wee hours of Monday morning left one man dead and others injured in St. Thomas, a release issued by V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has made known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The V.I.P.D. release stated that on Monday at about 1:41a.m., V.I.P.D. Traffic Division officers were dispatched to an auto collision incident in Long Bay, \u00a0just passed the former pump station where road construction is ongoing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the release, a female driver and male passenger were traveling west in a red Nissan sedan, while another vehicle &#8212; a silver Toyota Yaris &#8212; was traveling east. The Yaris collided into the red Nissan, which led to the death of one of the passengers traveling in the Yaris, according to police. The occupants of both vehicles were treated for their injuries at the Schneider Regional Medical Center (S.R.M.C.) and later discharged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" src=\"https:\/\/viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/image2-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-73593\" srcset=\"http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/image2-3.jpeg 1280w, http:\/\/wp.viconsortium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/image2-3-300x225.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><figcaption>Red Nissan Sedan involved in accident in St. Thomas on Monday, April 22<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The deceased was identified by next of kin as 21-year-old Gilberto Yinior Baez Salas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police charged the driver of the Yaris, identified as 29-year-old Bienvenido Gomez Morales, with negligent driving, failing to stay as far left as practical, and vehicular homicide.
