ST. CROIX — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night just north of the Camp Howard Wall (the Boy Scouts compound) on the south shore of St. Croix.

The shooting left a 19-year-old, second-year University of the Virgin Islands student dead, after he was shot in the head in close range in a car, according to investigators.

Police believe the young man, identified as Jeremie St. Rose, was setup by an individual after receiving a call. Mr. St. Rose was later found slumped in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, half of his body hanging out. Investigators say Mr. St. Rose may have been shot by someone in the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

The investigation continues, with police attempting to learn who was the last person Mr. St. Rose spoke to on the phone.

Police are asking anyone with information about this homicide to call 340-778-2211, or send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
