On Saturday, December 27 the management of Fort Christiansvaern will be hosting a Movie Night to show ‘Mission Blue’, a film about ocean preservation and the repercussions that will follow if leaders fail to take swift action on climate change. Viewing starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m.
Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet the film’s producers, speak to local fishermen and engage local conservationists on the topics of ocean conservation and marine health. A round table discussion will precede the filming for approximately one hour — 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the NPS Lecture Room, first floor of the Danish West India and Guinea Company Warehouse. According to the press release, the events are free to the public and are appropriate for all ages.

About Mission Blue
More than four years in the making, Mission Blue stars legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle, giving its audience an eye-opening wake-up call to save the ocean. The film was directed by Fisher Stevens (‘The Cove’) and Robert Nixon (‘Gorillas in the Mist’), and follows Dr. Earle on her global quest to protect the ocean — and the extraordinary marine life that call it home — from the powerful forces of pollution, overfishing and climate change.
Mission Blue also sheds light on Sylvia’s remarkable personal story and professional journey, detailing her earliest memories exploring the ocean as a young girl, to her days leading daring undersea missions and offering insight on the sacrifices, difficulties and tough choices she faced along the way.
