After VI Consortium revealed yesterday that the Kenneth Mapp-Osbert Potter administration would be revealing its new cabinet members on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at the WTJX-TV office on St. Croix, an official invite was sent out to the media late Sunday detailing the event.
As we reported, the press conference will take place 10 a.m. at WTJX-TV, and will be televised live on the public channel.
Speaking at various campaign events, Mapp gave hints about the type of government he wishes to lead, stating that his administration will be one that unite’s the people of the territory, and will not punish residents who supported other candidates during the Nov. 4 2014 General Election.
“[Osbert and I] will start as the example setters,” Mapp vowed. “We said very early on that when this campaign is over, we’re not going hunting. We’re not hunters — farmers yes, hunters, no.”
“So,” he continued, “we’re going to reach across the aisle and make sure that those that were in other camps recognize that we respect their rights to choose and support whoever they wanted to support, and to do it without consequence.”
Mapp went on, adding that, “there ain’t going to be any scores to settle, there aren’t any people in this territory to be punished because they exercised their right and their freedom to choose.”
In a video interview with VI Consortium preceding the Nov. 4 General Election, then-candidate Mapp said his administration would provide 1,000 jobs to residents of the territory by cutting overtime pay for law enforcement officers.
