The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) is advising St. Thomas residents living in Estate Thomas that power service will be interrupted on Tuesday, Jan. 20 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
According to a WAPA press release, “Sixty-six customers in the Estate Thomas area, above the Jungle Food Store, will be affected while crews transfer primary lines, as well as a transformer and streetlights from a rotten pole to a new pole in that area.”
Company officials say the work is required in order to “ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists who traverse the area.”
Motorists are advised to use “extreme caution” while traveling and to observe traffic directions in the area for the safety of those working on the project and for the general public.
“Every effort will be made to restore service as quickly as possible,” WAPA officials say.
