At a Public Finance Authority (PFA) meeting held Wednesday, Governor Kenneth Mapp, in his capacity as chairman of the board, moved to appoint new members to several governing boards, including the aforementioned PFA, the Virgin Islands Next Generation Network (ViNGN) and the West Indian Company (WICO).
The governor named Finance Commissioner-designee Valdamier Collens as executive director of the PFA board, and Keith O’Neale as its secretary.
New members named to WICO’s board include Randolph Knight, Joyce Dore-Griffin, Roberto Cintron, Ricardo Lettsome, Michael Watson, Michael Daswani, and Edward Thomas. Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty will remain on the board to represent the department she heads.
Mapp also named Elizabeth Armstrong to the ViNGN board to represent WAPA. She replaces Hugo Hodge, WAPA’s executive director.
A significant matter discussed at the meeting was the $1.5 million Agriculture Revolving Fund. Solutions were sought on how those funds could deliver on the Mapp administration’s campaign promise of creating a path whereby local farmers could provide fresh food for the territory’s school lunch program, hospitals, and other commercial applications.
