Police are investigating a rape incident that allegedly took place in the Mutual Homes Housing Community on St. Croix, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.
According to Jackson, the minor female victim, in the presence of her father, told officers she had “skipped school” on Feb. 11 and got a ride to her boyfriend’s apartment in Mutual Homes. The boyfriend then took her to the apartment of his friend, where the boyfriend and two others took turns physically assaulting her.
Detectives are currently investigating the incident.
Two days ago, VIPD announced the arrest of Lloyd S. Wilkinson, 53, on Feb. 12 on St. Thomas, charging him with first degree rape and first degree assault in connection with a rape that occurred in Frenchtown on the morning of Feb 11.
The St. Thomas victim, whose name is being withheld, positively identified Wilkinson as the man who raped her.
Wilkinson declined to give a statement at the time of his arrest. He was unable to post bail of $150,000 by order of the court and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
According to the victim, she had been walking on the roadway behind a bar-restaurant in Frenchtown at around 5:40 in the morning when she was approached by a black male with dreadlocks who asked to borrow a cigarette lighter.
The victim complied and the suspect returned the lighter, but then forcibly grabbed the victim in a chokehold, dragging her into the nearby bushes and raping her. The suspect ran off in the direction of the Oceana Restaurant, as the victim made her way toward the Frenchtown Fish Market in search of help.
