St. John’s Caneel Bay Resort Featured In Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue

Entertainment / Featured / News / Virgin Islands / March 2, 2015

The territory has been featured as the only Caribbean destination in the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which is currently available on newsstands and at SI.com/swimsuit.

According to information received from the Department of Tourism (DOT), the featured nine-page Body Paint section was shot on location at Caneel Bay Resort on St. John, where the resort’s beaches and the island were put on display.

The section includes a full page on Caneel Bay and St. John, likening the island to “a slice of heaven in the Caribbean sea” and reminding readers that “there’s more to the U.S. than the 50 states.”

The crew and models stayed at Caneel Bay during the photo shoot. In addition to body paint photos taken for the magazine, behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the crew’s time on St. John were secured by the DOT and can be found on the official SI Swimsuit 2015 website. Models Rose Bertram, Hailey Clauson, Erin Heatherton and Genevieve Morton were featured in the spread.

“The Department of Tourism is delighted that the Territory was featured in this year’s SI Swimsuit issue. The section on St. John and Caneel Bay highlighted the wonderful offerings we have here, and the DOT thanks all those who assisted the production while in the Territory. We look forward to more coverage for the USVI on such a grand scale,” said Commissioner of Tourism Beverly Nicholson-Doty.

St. Thomas native, Hannah Davis, appeared as the cover model for this year’s Swimsuit edition. It is her third appearance in the annual issue.

“We are also very proud that Virgin Islander Hannah Davis was featured as this year’s cover model,” Nicholson-Doty continued. “Hannah is a wonderful person to represent the VI, and we hope she can inspire young Virgin Islanders to follow their dreams.”
