Desi Henry, Jr., 21, was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and Jibri Roberts, 22, was sentenced to five months in prison for possession of a firearm within a school zone, United States Attorney Ronald W. Sharpe announced Wednesday.
According to court records, the two St. Thomas men were in possession of three firearms that were discovered after a traffic stop on Sept. 24, 2014 on Veterans Drive.
On Dec. 8, 2014, Roberts pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in a school zone and Henry pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Judge Gomez sentenced Henry to 40 months in prison on each of the two gun charges, with both sentences to run concurrently. He also sentenced Henry to three years of supervised release and Roberts to one year of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Virgin Islands Police Department. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigrid M. Tejo-Sprotte.
