A man was struck by a white vehicle that left the scene of the accident that took place in the vicinity of the Kingshill Post Office, near the La Reine Chicken Shack on Tuesday night, VI Consortium has confirmed through police sources.
Police say the victim, who is approximately 57 years old, was intoxicated and walking in the roadway on the northbound lane of the La Reine road when he was struck by what is believed to be a white Jeep Liberty.
Police say the victim suffered a laceration to the head consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Police also say the man has a history of seizures.
When VI Consortium spoke with police well over an hour following the incident, they told reporters the man had remained intoxicated, but would be treated for his injuries and was expected to recover.
VI Consortium received a call about the hit-and-run around 7:54 p.m. Tuesday, approximately 20 minutes after the incident occurred. When reporters arrived on the scene, emergency medical personnel had already transported the injured victim to the Juan Luis Hospital and detectives with the VIPD’s Forensic Unit could be seen investigating the scene.
