The public review period for the Virgin Islands Election System State Plan in accordance to the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002 has been extended through April 16.
The purpose of the state plan is to show where states are in compliance with the mandates of the HAVA Act and provide a future course of action for the areas where states are not yet in compliance.
The state plan draft is located at the Election System offices, public libraries, veterans affairs offices, the University of the Virgin Islands libraries, and on Water Island. Additional, but restricted areas where the revised draft has been submitted for review are the Bureau of Corrections, the V.I. Army National Guard and the V.I. Air National Guard.
Also, as part of the review process, the state plan draft is available at www.vivote.gov. The public is asked to submit their comments and recommendations in the bins provided at the review sites or on the online form.
