Argument With Girlfriend Leads Police To Suspect With Illegal Firearm

News / Virgin Islands / April 11, 2015

ST. CROIX — Hillman Faucher Jr. of Mon Bijou was arrested on Thursday morning in Estate Princesse and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm after police recovered a 9mm pistol in his girlfriend’s apartment, where an argument between the warring couple had ensued, VIPD Police Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.

According to Jackson, at roughly 1:48 a.m., the 911 emergency call center received a report of shots being discharged in the area of the Manor School, located in Estate Princesse. Officers were dispatched and made a check of the area and found no trace of the suspect.

However, while in the area investigating the incident, the 911 emergency call center dispatched the officers to examine building 10 in Princesse Villas, in reference to a disturbance in progress involving a gun. The dispatcher also indicated that the caller had the telephone line open, and a female could be heard telling a male to put the gun down.

When officers arrived at the location, they immediately made contact with an adult female who stated that she and her boyfriend had been engaged in an argument. The officers inquired of the female adult as to who else was in the apartment, and she confirmed that her boyfriend was inside.

The male, who was later identified as Faucher Jr., was initially reluctant to come to the door but eventually spoke to the officers.

While Faucher Jr. was approaching the door, one of the officers observed a black gun holster on the floor of the residence. Officers then requested permission to enter the apartment and received consent. Upon searching the apartment, officers were able to recover a 9mm pistol belonging to the suspect.

Bail for Faucher Jr. was set at $25,000 by order of the court. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advise of Rights hearing.
