Harwood Highway Closed From Today

Community Center / News / Virgin Islands / April 22, 2015

ST. THOMAS – The Harwood Highway will be closed on Wednesday April 22 at 9 a.m. so that paving can begin, according to Public Works Commissioner designee Gustav James.

James said weather permitting, both eastbound and westbound lanes will be closed within limited work zones and traffic will be detoured around the established zone.

“This disruption is necessary in order to bring the highway back into compliance for safe usage,” he said.

Motorists are urged to use alternate routes and to pay close attention to posted signs, barriers and warning devices.  Traffic control will be modified as paving progresses, James said.

The work will be completed no later than Friday May 1, he said.

James asked for the community’s cooperation during the construction phase and apologized for any inconvenience it may cause to the motoring public.
