Man Arrested For Illegal Gun Possession In St. Thomas

News / Virgin Islands / April 27, 2015

ST. THOMAS – A routine traffic stop over the weekend resulted in a 25-year-old Estate Mariendahl man being arrested on illegal gun possession charges, police said.

Dwayne Fahie was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Friday after K-9 Police and the Special Operations Bureau initiated a traffic stop in the area of the Frederick Lutheran Church on Norre Gade, according to police.

As the police officer stopped the vehicle, Fahie got out of the front passenger seat and ran off in an easterly direction, police said. Police pursued him and nabbed him near Roosevelt Park, they said. A search of Fahie’s person revealed a firearm concealed in the rear of his pants’ waist, according to police.

Fahie is charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, police said. Bail was set at $10,000 and when he was unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights Hearing.
