ST. CROIX – A 28-year-old Estate Strawberry man broke into a woman’s home Wednesday through the back door and assaulted her once he was inside the house, according to police.

The woman reported the incident to police at the Ann Schrader Command Center in Estate La Reine about 7:45 a.m. on April 29.

Jeffrey Nurse was charged with second-degree burglary and domestic violence in connection with the attack, police said.

Nurse was remanded to the the Bureau of Corrections pending an advice of rights hearing. There was no bail set as per the domestic violence law.

The woman told police that Nurse, her boyfriend and father of her child, came to her residence but was denied entry. He then tried to enter the home several times unsuccessfully but was able to finally enter by prying open a back door.
