Five Shot, One Dead In Gunfight On Christiansted Boardwalk

Breaking News / Featured / News / Virgin Islands / May 16, 2015

ST. CROIX — A gunfight broke out on the Christiansted boardwalk this morning at about 2:30 a.m., leaving one Mon Bijou man dead and four others, including one female, wounded, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has announced.

Jackson said the 911 emergency call center received multiple notifications for several ambulances to assist gunshot victims. Officers were also summoned to the crime scene near Cruzan Scooters and International Charters Kindred Spirit — across from Rum Runners.

VI Consortium was told by people with knowledge of the incident that over 40 shots were fired during the gunfight that left a Mon Bijou man dead.

VI Consortium visited the location of the incident and noticed multiple gunshot holes lodged in the boardwalk’s floor, some of which still had blood, indicating that the victim seemingly stumbled onto the ground and sustained several shots while lying in the vulnerable position.

Upon arrival on the scene, officers met the deceased, who has been identified by police as Blaine Gerard, 26, lying lifeless on the cold floor in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Rushing to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, officers encountered the additional shooting victims involved in the incident. According to Jackson, preliminary reports indicate that the victims may have been shooting at each other.

They were identified by the VIPD as Anthony White, 22, Tamiesha Roebuck, 32, and Alberto Lawrence, 26, from Mon Bijou, according to police. Joshua Hernandez, 20, from the John F. Kennedy Housing Community, was also at JFL being treated.

The driver’s side windshield of an S-10 Chevrolet truck situated near Cruzan Scooters was shattered by gunfire, and the owner, along with a forensic detective, could be seen attempting to locate the bullet’s remains.

It is not yet known what lead to the shooting, and although there was a party at Brew Pub last night, people with knowledge of the incident told VI Consortium that partygoers were not involved.

Jackson said VIPD continue to investigate the incident.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
