Veterans Affairs Office Opening In St. John On Friday

Community Center / News / Virgin Islands / June 10, 2015

ST. JOHN — The Office of Veterans Affairs has announced that beginning on Friday and every second Friday thereafter, veterans of the smallest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands will able to receive assistance without traveling to St. Thomas.

That’s because Veterans Affairs has opened a new office to serve veterans on the island, located in Battery Cruz Bay between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Veterans seeking assistance are encouraged to visit the office to receive the same support they would in St. Thomas or St. Croix, which includes obtaining a local veteran I.D., among other important services. Veterans are also urged to call the St. Thomas office to schedule an appointment for swift service.

“Setting an appointment will ensure that we have your files available when you arrive,” said Patrick D. Farrell, director of the Office of Veterans Affairs. “This is also an attempt to live up to our promise to the veterans that reside on St. John when we told them they will not be left out.”

Farrell added that improving the quality of life for the territory’s veterans is his office’s biggest goal, and said if the new office’s opening receives overwhelming response and an extra day is needed, it will be added.

Veterans looking to schedule an appointment should call the St. Thomas office at 340-774-6100.
