Fire Service Investigating Cause Of Mon Bijou Structural Fire

ST. CROIX — At about 2:57 am on Thursday the Richmond Fire Station received an emergency call regarding a brush fire at #616 Mon Bijou, the territory’s Fire Service announced via press release on Thursday.

While responding with one unit from Richmond, 911 control placed another call and upgraded the report to a structural fire.

Units were then dispatched from the Grove and Frederiksted fire stations and arrived on the scene at about 3:13 a.m. Once on location, the firemen found a wooden structure on fire and were able to put out the blaze an hour and a half later.

Contact was made with the American Red Cross to assist displaced residents. An arson investigation report was also placed.

According to the release, the Fire Service is currently investigating what caused the incident, and is urging anyone with information to contact the Arson and Prevention unit at 340-773-8050.
