ST. CROIX — Lieutenant Governor Osbert Potter is advising residents to stay away from an entity named US Virgin Islands Money, PLC, which lists its address as 3247 Estate Golden Rock, Christiansted, St. Croix 00820, as the company is not licensed to conduct “any type of banking business in the territory.”
The company, Vmoonline, requires an access code to gain entry through the main URL, however other gateways (which The Consortium will not link because Vmoonline contains viruses), show various links offering a myriad of financial services, including credit cards, mortgage, savings, loans and more.
Citing Virgin Islands Code Section 102 of Title 9, which states that “No foreign bank may open any branch or change the location of any branch, in the United States Virgin Islands without a permit from the banking board,” the lieutenant governor warned against doing business Vmoonline, which has also been reported by various sources as a fake company looking to scam unknowing victims by luring them into a trap with enticing financial offerings, only to provide no return on investment.
Previously, the company was called Virgin Money PLC, but it changed to Virgin Islands Money, PLC as the territory has become its latest target.
According to Scam Adviser, the owner of Vmoonline is from South Africa. The same owner has registered dozens of other domains and lists a generic contact number.
