ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department managed to recover multiple weapons Monday and Tuesday in what appeared to be stepped up efforts by the force to quell crime here, following the rash of criminal activity that plagued the island last weekend.
Among the recovered weapons was a machine gun and a Glock handgun, believed to be stolen from the residence of a police officer a few years ago.
According to Kevin Jackson, VIPD’s Public Information Officer, the recovery of these weapons was the result of a directed patrol initiative through the criminal investigation bureau, which includes members of the Wilbur Francis Command; Ancilmo Marshall Command; Traffic Investigation Bureau; and the ATF Task Force.
Sunday, July 12, 2015 – Winston C. Venner, 27 of Strawberry Ridge was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 3:50 a.m. in the area of Estate Bellevue, in plain view of officers. Bail for Venner was set at $25,000. However, he was unable to post the required amount and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
Monday, July 13, 2015 – Jahkeem Garray, 19 of William’s Delight was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 1:20 a.m. in the vicinity of Estate La Reine. Unable to make bail of $25,000, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing
Monday, July 13, 2015 – Omari K. Gordon, 31 of La Grande Princesse was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 8:40 p.m. in the vicinity of Harbor View. Bail for Gordon was set at $25,000, however he was unable to post the required amount and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
Monday, July 13, 2015 – Fade Asad, 22 of Barren Spot was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 9:30 p.m. in the area of the D. Hamilton Jackson Terrace. Unable to post bail of $25,000, Asad was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
Monday, July 13, 2015 – Nakosi Prentice, 18 of William’s Delight was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 11:55 p.m. in the area of Estate Concordia. He was remanded to the Burea of Corrections for his advise-of-rights hearing after failing to make bail of $25,000.
