ST. CROIX — An elderly man was found lifeless in the Kingshill area right after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced via press release.

According to Jackson, at about 9:01 p.m. the 911 emergency call center received notification from an officer that a citizen had stopped and notified him of an unresponsive man laying on Centerline Road in the vicinity of the traffic light at the Kingshill intersection.

The officer made a check of the area and discovered the body of an elderly male, laying on the side of the road, unresponsive. An ambulance was called to the scene where EMTs examined the victim and found no signs of life.

An investigator with the Traffic Investigation Bureau was also called to the scene to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

The name of the victim is being withheld until notification of next of kin has been established.

 The investigation into this incident continues, according to Jackson.

A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the deceased was found dead at 9:01 a.m on Friday morning. However, he was found at 9:01 p.m. on Thursday night. The story has been updated to reflect the correct information.
