St. Thomas Clothing Store Burglary Caught On Tape

News / Virgin Islands / August 20, 2015

ST. THOMAS — Two unknown individuals were caught on tape burglarizing a clothing store here, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced on Wednesday.

According to Jackson, at about 9:38 a.m. on Wednesday, the 911 emergency call center alerted officers of a burglary at Kenia’s Fashion located in Solberg.

Officers arrived at the scene and met with the owner of the business, who stated that on the evening of Tuesday, August 11, she secured her business for the night and upon her return the following day at 9:20 a.m., noticed that the eastern wall of the establishment had a hole in it. As she entered the business, she discovered that the safe was open and an undetermined amount of cash was missing.

The preliminary investigation shows that the thieves removed the padlock from the entry gate and gained entry into the vacant office space located directly next to clothing store. The suspects then made their way into the clothing store by cutting a large hole into the wall with an unknown tool and once inside, they broke into the safe and removed the cash.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau continue their investigation into the matter.
