An Attempted Rape, A Machete Attack And Fork Stabbing In St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — Three incidents here saw charges being levied against various individuals, including a man who was charged with third degree assault and attempted rape, another with third degree assault for allegedly attacking someone with a machete, and yet another man was hit with an assault charge for his involvement in a fork stabbing incident, VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson announced this afternoon.

According to Jackson, at roughly 8:20 a.m. on Monday, Wendell Clarke, 30, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with third degree assault and attempted rape.


Clarke was arrested after being viewed on the security tape of the complainant’s place of employment, which positively identified him as the individual who had assaulted her on Thursday, August 20, 2015.

Unable to make bail of $75,000, Clark was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.

Elsewhere, Roy A. Otway, 28, of Estate Contant was also arrested on Monday at 4:45 p.m. and charged with third degree assault.

Otway, a self-employed commercial fisherman, was arrested after having been positively identified as the individual who assaulted the complainant with a machete that required immediate medical attention.

And Vincent Murray, 19, of Estate Contant was arrested on Monday  and charged with third degree assault (DV), for stabbing the mother of his child in the neck with a fork.

Murray was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
